SUNDA TEAL Anas gibberifrons

Sunda Teal is actually the nominate Grey Teal which is a widespread species in south-east Asia and Australia. Following a three-way split (a fourth subspecies on Rennell Island is extinct) it now refers to birds in Indonesia, from Sumatra and Borneo to the Lesser Sundas and Sulawesi. These are less dispersive than Grey Teal but all species in the complex are prone to wandering in response to conditions; none is migratory. As I have never visited that part of the world this was taken in captivity.
