SPOTTED WHISTLING-DUCK Dendrocygna guttata

A relatively unknown species, until quite recently it was found in New Guinea and parts of Indonesia. Over the last ten years there has been an increasing number of records from Cape York peninsular, where these shots were taken. Birds can now usually be found there and may have bred, hopefully they will become more firmly established in Australia. Both sexes are similar, as are all whistling-ducks, juveniles a duller version of adults.
