WEST-INDIAN (BLACK-BILLED) WHISTLING-DUCK Dendrocygna arborea

The largest, and least vocal, whistling-duck, it was found throughout the West Indies but populations are declining and it has probably disappeared from many islands. Largely nocturnal, it rarely ventures on to open water so is often overlooked. As I have never visited the West Indies these birds were taken in captivity.
