GREENLAND WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE Anser (albifrons) flavirostris

Seemingly larger and darker than nominate birds, most winter in western Scotland and Ireland. Vagrants occur in England fairly frequently, these birds were taken at Welney, in Norfolk, when I was allowed access during a foot and mouth epidemic in order to illustrate an article by the warden. A split is unlikely, but they are quite distinctive.
