TWO-BANDED PLOVER Charadrius falklandicus

Whilst both the name, and to an extent appearence, may invite confusion with the previous species, this bird is confined to South America, breeding on coasts of Chile and southern Argentina and migrating north as far as Uruguay. It also breeds on the Falklands, from where it gets its scientific name. Birds are sedentary, and tend to have an incomplete upper collar. Despite this a separate race has never been described.
