The smallest pratincole, found mainly in India, Sri Lanka and Nepal near large rivers, the central bird was resting
in a field during the heat of the day in Goa. They tend to be very flighty, decent photos proved difficult. Normally they frequent sandbanks and shorelines
near their favoured rivers, and often occur in flocks, as on the River Kosi in Nepal. Not strictly
migratory, they tend to move downstream out of the breeding season and are often seen on estuaries and
coastal marshes.
