BLACK-WINGED PRATINCOLE Glareola nordmanni

Distinguished by and named for its black underwings, this species breeds from eastern Europe to Central Asia, and migrates, usually non-stop, to southern Africa. Vagrants occur across Europe including Britain, where the adults were photographed. The 1st winter bird was taken in Uganda, where it winters alongside Collared.
