CAPPED HERON Pilherodius pileatus

Found over most of tropical South America, Capped Heron is uncommon in most areas, but readily found in the Llanos of Venezuela. It's dark cap renders it unmistakeable, but its jizz is also very different to Egrets, and it is placed in its own genus. The grey back varies, and may be almost white.
