GREATER CRESTED or SWIFT TERN Thalasseus bergii

Another widespread species, found coastally from South Africa to Australia and some Pacific islands, breeding mainly within the Tropics. One of a number of species with a shaggy black cap, but in breeding plumage has a white forecrown and very yellow bill. Usually quite distinctive, the shade of the mantle varies considerably between races.
