The scientific name here is far more appropriate to the birds most European birders see, 
an attractive grey and white bird dodging the waves in winter. Breeding birds are strikingly different, and are more common on passage 
in the USA for some reason, probably because they winter further south. The breeders shown were taken in North Carolina.
