Another difficult bird to see on its breeding grounds, most birders
catch up with these in northern Australia, where they "winter". The best time is late September or October, after which
they disperse in the vastness of the outback. The outer shots were taken on Roebuck Plains, near Broome Bird Observatory,
the righthand bird is a juvenile. However, a recent trip to Mongolia afforded the opportunity to photograph a bird in breeding plumage.
