LEAST TERN Sternula antillarum

The American equivalent of the Eurasian Little Tern, once considered conspecific. A bird spent several summers in a tern colony in Sussex, but wasn't officially accepted for years due to the similarity of certain races of Little. Recently there has been a record in Ireland. Like the UK, the birds are under pressure in the US due to use of beaches for recreation.
