LAUGHING GULL
Larus atricapilla
Somewhat more frequent than the previous species as an almost annual visitor to Britain, but a common coastal species in south and east USA. Interestingly, the scientific name means "black-headed", whereas Black-headed Gull's scientific name means "laughing", or at least "grinning".
