INCA TERN Larosterna inca

The most striking tern in most people's opinion, endemic to the Humboldt Current and found commonly in harbours, rocky islets etc. from central Chile to Northern Peru. A large tern, the striking feature is the combination of red bill, large yellow sub-loral spot and curved white plumes from the lores to behind the eye. Non-breeding plumage is much duller, and juveniles positively boring grey-brown.
