CASPIAN TERN Hydroprogne caspia

The world's largest tern, usually unmistakeable given its large orange-red bill, although some have less prominent bills which may give rise to confusion with Royal Tern. A widespread breeder in Eurasia, Africa, North America and Australia, and a fairly regular vagrant to Britain. I was lucky enough to find one on a local patch when I called in on the way home from work!
