CALIFORNIA GULL
Larus californicus

An abundant breeding bird of the Western United States, the name is somewhat inappropriate since the majority of birds breed to the north of california and up in to Canada. A somewhat nondescript bird, but actually fairly distinctive in appearence due to primary pattern and the bill in breeding plumage, whilst 1st winter birds have a clear cut black bill tip distinguishing them from Herring & Western Gulls.
