BRONZE-WINGED JACANA
Metopidius indicus
One of the Asian representatives of the family, this bird has an iridescence to its plumage which gives it the name. Often found together with Pheasant-tailed
Jacana, the young of this species strangely bears a slight superficial resemblance to the eclipse plumage of the other, although lacking the breast-band. Mainly
sedentary with some post-breeding dispersal, it is found throughout India and much of SE Asia, but absent from Sri Lanka.
