ANDEAN AVOCET
Recurvirostra andina
The South American avocet, mainly restricted to the high altitude puna of the Andean chain, in
Peru, Bolivia, N.Chile and NW. Argentina. It has the
most recurved bill of all four species, and relatively short legs, which with its somewhat
bulky body, make it less elegant than the others.
