AMERICAN WOODCOCK Scolopax minor

The only New World Woodcock, confined to the USA and Canada. Like all woodcocks it is found in woodlands and can be located by its roding flight at dusk, however, it seems to be more easily encountered on the ground, especially on migration, and can often be seen out in the open, as this bird, which began feeding with crowds of people only yards away.
