WHITE-NECKED (PACIFIC) HERON Ardea pacifica

Commonly found and endemic to Australia, especially the North, but subject to movements due to seasonal conditions. It is usually found singly or in small groups, and is unmistakeable. Usually called White-necked Heron nowadays, the name pacifica was never really appropriate, the extent of vagrancy is PNG and New Zealand (once).
