PAINTED STORK Mycteria leucocephala

This is the Indian and South-east Asian equivalent of Yellow-billed Stork, formerly lumped. The pattern on the wings is far more ornate, whether this accounts for the name is unknown. Fairly common in India at least, we had only encountered it many years ago in Goa, until my recent trip to Sri Lanka confirmed its status there at least.
