DIMORPHIC EGRET Egretta dimorpha

Previously conspecific with other Reef-herons and commonly found in white and dark morphs, this bird is confined to Madagascar and a few other Indian Island oceans. Whilst both morphs are found on coastlines (and some intermediates), interior birds are usually white, but both show the heavier bill characteristic of reef-type egrets as compared with Little. There is obviously more work to be done on the taxonomy of the taxa concerned.
