YELLOW-BILLED PINTAIL Anas (georgica) spinicauda

The South American equivalent of Northern Pintail, although related it shows little sexual dimorphism. Breeding from the Falklands, Tierra del Fuego and southern Chile its range extends as far north as Colombia, although birds aren't usually found in much of Brazil or Amazonia. Originally three races, one is now extinct, and this taxon is actually a race of South Georgia Pintail, which has been afforded full species status in the past. All photos were taken in Tierra del Fuego or Argentina.
