CAPE TEAL Anas capensis

A widely distributed but sparse African duck, usually found in pairs or small parties, although moult gatherings do occur involving large flocks. Found from Chad and Ethiopia south, becoming reasonably common in South Africa; some birds are nomadic dependent on rains. These photos were taken in South Africa and Namibia, the "yellow" on the bill is mud, bills are red with black edgings.
