ANDEAN GOOSE Chloephaga melanoptera

Similar to the previous species in terms of behaviour and movements, which in this case are to lower elevations in winter. Found only above 3300m in the Andes, pairs are not uncommon from Peru, through Bolivia to the northern half of Chile, and corresponding areas to the east in Argentina. Not a monotypic genus, but related to several other South American geese, which follow. The central bird was at Slimbridge, the others in the Chilean Andes.
