RED-FACED CORMORANT Urile urile

This rather comical-looking species ranges from Hokkaido to Alaska, but breeds primarily on rocky islands, thus Kommanders, Kurils, Pribilofs and the Aleutian chain. It is reasonably common throughout, and although sharing the eastern part of its range with Pelagic Cormorant, a reasonable view will allow easy identification, the red being much less extensive on the latter. It seems to be sedentary, odd birds occur on Queen Charlotte Island, but there seems to be no record of vagrancy.
