MASKED BOOBY Sula dactylatra

Widespread in all tropical oceans and on many sutropical islands, there are currently four recognised subspecies with two others which have been described but are now subsumed within personata. Some have been suggested as potential splits and Nazca Booby was split as long ago as 2002; there are genetic differences between some populations but further work is needed. The largest Booby, there is a clinal variation in size, the smallest are in the Atlantic and the largest in the Indian Ocean.
