AUSTRALASIAN GANNET Morus serrator

Widespread on Australian coasts and offshore islands from Western Australia to Rockhampton, also New Zealand, Tasmania, Lord Howe and Norfolk Islands. Although the least numerous gannet it is not listed as threatened, due to the large number of colonies and increasing numbers. There is a small interchange between this and Cape Gannet, it has been recorded on a breeding island off South Africa, and the two are closely related. There are other records from the Indian Ocean, but it doesn't seem to cross the equator.
